Losing a tooth affects far more than your smile. It can change the way you eat, speak, and feel about yourself, and over time a gap can lead to bone loss and shifting teeth. For people across Jacksonville who are ready to replace a missing tooth with a stable, natural-looking option, dental implants are one of the most dependable solutions in modern restorative dentistry.
At JAX Dental Studio, we coordinate your complete implant treatment from the first consultation to the final restoration. Dr. Charles Poblenz, DMD plans your care, prepares your mouth, and designs and places your custom restoration, and we partner with a trusted surgical specialist for the implant placement itself. This team approach keeps your care guided by one familiar practice in Jacksonville, FL while making sure every step is handled by the right set of hands.
A dental implant is a small titanium post that takes the place of a missing tooth root. Once it is placed in the jawbone, it fuses with the bone through a natural process called osseointegration and becomes a stable foundation for a custom restoration. The result looks, feels, and functions much like a natural tooth, and because an implant stands on its own, it does not rely on neighboring teeth for support the way a traditional bridge does.
Research published through the National Institutes of Health shows that implant use among adults with missing teeth has continued to rise in recent years, reflecting how widely trusted they have become as a tooth-replacement option.
An implant can support several different restorations depending on how many teeth are missing. During your consultation we help you choose the option that fits your needs, your bone, and your budget.
One implant topped with a custom dental crown to replace a single missing tooth without altering the teeth beside it.
A few implants anchor a bridge to replace several missing teeth in a row, using fewer posts than teeth.
Implants stabilize a denture so it stays secure and comfortable instead of resting on the gums alone.
A set of implants supports a fixed, full-arch replacement as part of our full-mouth restorations for patients missing most or all of their teeth.
Not sure which option is right for you? We walk you through the choices in plain language so you can decide with confidence.
The cost of dental implant treatment depends on your specific situation, so the most accurate estimate comes after a consultation and 3D imaging. A few factors shape the total investment, and we review all of them with you before treatment begins.
Replacing a single tooth is different from restoring several teeth or a full arch, so the number of implants needed affects the cost.
Some patients need a bone graft, gum treatment, or an extraction first, which can add to the timeline and the total.
The type of final restoration, whether a crown, bridge, or implant-retained denture, and the materials chosen also play a role.
Money should never come between you and your dental health. Many dental plans contribute toward part of implant treatment, and our team helps you understand and maximize your benefits. We are in network with BlueCross BlueShield, Humana, Cigna, Florida Combined Life, and Aetna, among others. For any portion your plan does not cover, we offer financing through CareCredit so you can spread payments over time. You can review our insurance and financing options or ask our team to verify your benefits before you commit to treatment.
Most adults in good general health are candidates for dental implants, and a thorough evaluation is always the first step. During your consultation we review your medical history, check your bone density, and examine your gum health before recommending a plan. In general, you may be a good candidate if you have:
If you have experienced bone loss from a long-standing gap, you may still qualify after a graft, and our blog explains whether implants are possible with bone loss. When gum health needs attention first, we coordinate gum disease treatment as part of your overall plan.
Getting an implant unfolds over several months, and each phase has a purpose. Knowing what to expect helps most patients feel at ease from start to finish.
We evaluate your bone, gums, and goals, then map your treatment with advanced imaging so every detail is planned in advance.
Your titanium post is placed by the trusted surgical specialist we partner with, often after a tooth extraction when a damaged tooth needs to be removed first.
Over a few months the implant fuses with your jawbone, creating a stable foundation for your new tooth.
Back at JAX Dental Studio, we design and attach your final restoration, usually a custom dental crown, or a bridge or full-arch option for those replacing more teeth.

Implants offer advantages that other tooth-replacement options cannot fully match.
Designed to blend with your smile and function much like a natural tooth.
An implant stimulates the jaw the way a natural root does, helping limit bone loss.
With good care, implants are built to last for many years, making them a sound long-term value.
Unlike a traditional bridge, an implant does not rely on altering the healthy teeth beside it.
Many patients tell us a stable replacement tooth restores both comfort and self-assurance.
For patients replacing several teeth, our full-mouth restorations can combine implants into a single, cohesive plan.

The placement is done under local anesthesia, and sedation options are available through the surgical team, so most patients feel little during the procedure. Mild soreness for a few days afterward is normal and usually managed with over-the-counter pain relief.
Because the implant needs time to fuse with the jawbone, the full process often spans several months from placement to final restoration. Your exact timeline depends on your healing and whether any preparatory care, such as a bone graft, is needed.
An implant replaces the tooth root and stands on its own, while a traditional bridge relies on the teeth beside the gap for support. Our blog compares a dental implant versus a bridge in more detail.
In many cases, yes. A bone graft can rebuild enough support for an implant, and we evaluate this during your consultation. You can read more about implants with bone loss on our blog.
With good oral hygiene and regular checkups, dental implants can last for many years, and often a lifetime. The restoration on top may eventually need attention, but the implant itself is built to be a long-term solution.
