Every dollar you spend on routine cleanings and exams is working to prevent the much higher cost of fillings, crowns, root canals, and gum disease treatment down the road. Preventive dentistry is not just about keeping your teeth clean — it is about staying ahead of problems that develop silently, before they cause pain or permanent damage.
At JAX Dental Studio, we integrate prevention into every appointment. When you come in for a routine visit, we are looking at the full picture: your gum tissue, bite, early signs of wear, jaw alignment, and anything digital imaging reveals that cannot be seen by the naked eye. Our goal is a personalized care plan that keeps your smile healthy for decades, not just until your next visit. Explore our full range of dental services to see how we support your oral health from every angle.
At JAX Dental Studio in Jacksonville’s San Marco neighborhood, we believe the best dental work is the kind you never need. Dr. Charles Poblenz, DMD and our team have built a practice around catching problems early, protecting your teeth and gums with precision technology, and building personalized care plans that fit your actual life. If you are due for a cleaning, or it has been a while, we make it easy to get back on track.
Every dental appointment begins with a thorough cleaning from your dentist or dental hygienist. They will clean away plaque, tartar and bacteria, buff and polish your teeth, and floss your teeth to ensure that your smile looks bright and beautiful.
We use advanced digital X-ray technology and iTero 5D intraoral scanning to detect hidden issues — cavities between teeth, bone changes, and early-stage concerns — that a visual exam alone cannot reveal. Our digital imaging delivers high-resolution detail at a fraction of the radiation exposure of traditional film X-rays.
After your teeth are cleaned and x-rays have been taken, your dentist will examine your teeth, gums, and mouth for any signs of oral health issues, like cavities, gum disease, and abnormalities of the tissues. X-rays will also be examined to ensure that every potential issue has been detected.
During your exam, your dentist will discuss with you the state of your oral health and any potential problems that they see. At this time, a treatment plan is developed. Your doctor will provide you with recommendations to resolve the issues and discuss the best treatment options for your lifestyle and budget.
If you need a follow-up appointment for a simple filling, more complex restorative work, or a cosmetic treatment, we can schedule your next appointment before you leave our office. We also recommend that you schedule your next cleaning in 6 months to ensure your smile stays bright and beautiful.
We are proud to be in-network with many of the most widely used dental insurance plans in Jacksonville. Most preventive services — cleanings, exams, and X-rays — are covered at 100% with no out-of-pocket cost to you. We currently accept:
No insurance? Our in-house membership plan gives you access to preventive care at a straightforward annual rate. And for new patients, we offer a $149 exam, cleaning, and X-rays special to make getting started simple and affordable.
Preventive dentistry is not a single service — it is a coordinated approach to protecting every part of your oral health. At JAX Dental Studio, our preventive care program combines professional in-office treatments with patient education so small issues never become large ones.
Your mouth is the gateway to your body — and what happens here does not stay here. Research has established clear links between chronic gum disease and serious systemic conditions including heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, and pregnancy complications. Bacteria from untreated periodontal disease can enter the bloodstream and trigger inflammation throughout the body, which is why preventive dental care matters well beyond your smile.
Dr. Poblenz holds membership in the American Academy for Oral Systemic Health (AAOSH), a distinction that reflects his commitment to treating the whole patient, not just the tooth. When we evaluate your gum health at every visit, we are also looking for early indicators that may warrant a conversation with your physician. Preventive care at the dental chair can be one of your most powerful tools for protecting your long-term health.
JAX Dental Studio goes beyond the basic clean-and-go. Here is what sets our preventive care apart in Jacksonville:
Our iTero 5D scanner detects near-infrared caries activity and early decay that traditional X-rays can miss. You see your teeth in 3D — before problems reach the surface.
We use precision soft tissue lasers to treat early gum disease and remove diseased tissue with less discomfort and faster recovery than traditional instruments.
Dr. Poblenz holds membership in the American Academy for Oral Systemic Health, connecting your dental care to your broader medical wellness — a standard most general dentists do not apply.
Every member of our team completes advanced continuing education far exceeding Florida’s state minimums. The techniques we use are genuinely current, not just compliant.
Dental plaque is made up of more than 300 different types of bacteria.

Dr. Poblenz grew up in Jensen Beach, Florida and returned to Jacksonville after earning his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry in 2015. A prevention-first dentist by philosophy, he believes the best outcomes come from catching problems early, educating patients thoroughly, and building personalized care plans that fit real lives.
He holds memberships in the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and the American Academy for Oral Systemic Health — a reflection of his commitment to treating the whole patient, not just the tooth. Dr. Poblenz also volunteers through the Donated Dental Services (DDS) program, providing free dental care to Jacksonville's most vulnerable residents.
